Governor of the CBCG meets future Montenegro’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium
The Governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), Mr. Radoje Žugić, met today with Mr. Ivan Leković, future Montenegro’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium. The meeting was organised with a view to Mr. Leković’s preparations for the position of Montenegro’s resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium placed in Brussels.
The interlocutors discussed the possibilities of deepening the economic cooperation between Montenegro and the Kingdom of Belgium.
Governor Žugić pointed out that the economic cooperation between Montenegro and the Kingdom of Belgium has been growing constantly not only in visible trade but also in investments, with significantly constant growth in trade in services where Montenegro has recorded a surplus.
They also agreed that Montenegro has the potential to further develop and expand economic cooperation with the Kingdom of Belgium, especially in investments. Belgian investors are interested in Montenegro’s resources that need to be valued in the coming period, which can be a good basis for further intensifying and improving economic cooperation between the two countries.
Concerning the activities of the CBCG, the Governor pointed out that, as a member of the Belgian-Dutch Constitution, the CBCG has close and developed cooperation with the National Bank of Belgium, at both international and European level. Moreover, in addition to expert visits, seminars and workshops, the cooperation with the National Bank of Belgium is also reflected in specific study visits designed to strengthen the CBCG’s institutional capacity based on its specific needs and priorities.
