The IMF starts its official visit to Montenegro


The Governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), Radoje Žugić, and his team held a meeting with the Alternative Executive Director of the Belgian-Dutch Constituency in the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Luc Dresse, and the Head of the IMF Mission to Montenegro, Srikant Seshadri. This meeting marked the beginning of the IMF’s official visit to Montenegro, which goal is to collect data needed to analyse and evaluate the country’s overall economic situation.

Presenting the key trends characterising Montenegro’s banking sector to the IMF representatives, Governor Žugić noted that the banks are stable, liquid and adequately capitalised. It is confirmed by the solvency ratio, which stood at 18.43% at the system level, almost twice the statutory minimum.

During the upcoming visit, the IMF staff will hold meetings with the CBCG representatives to collect data on the banking sector’s situation, the current monetary policy measures, and the prospects and projections for the next period.
