02/03/2026

The CBCG has published a Public Call for the Design of a Commemorative Coin Honouring the Endemic Plant Petrolamium crnojevicii and marking the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on the Ecological State of Montenegro.

With this issue, CBCG wishes to pay tribute to the natural wealth of our country and its enduring commitment to pursuing development in accordance with the environmental protection principles. This endemic plant, which grows exclusively in Montenegro, symbolises our exceptional biodiversity, while the Declaration on the Ecological State represents modern Montenegro’s commitment to basing its social and economic development on the principles of sustainability, responsibility and the lasting protection of natural resources.

The commemorative coin will serve as a lasting reminder of the responsibility we bear towards nature, as well as of the vision that positioned Montenegro as an ecological state 35 years ago.

Through its tradition of issuing commemorative coins, the CBCG fosters a culture of remembrance and promotes themes of particular importance to the state and society. This Public Call offers artists and designers the opportunity to contribute, through their creative solutions, to the creation of a numismatic issue that will represent a fusion of art, nature and national identity.

The best-ranked conceptual designs will be awarded with cash prizes: the first prize with 3,000 euros, the second prize with 2,000 euros and the third prize with 1,000 euros. The deadline for the submission of proposals is 1 April 2026 at noon.

The Public Call, including detailed conditions and technical specifications, is available on the CBCG’s website.
