CBCG Governor Meets with AIK Group Representatives

The CBCG Governor, Irena Radović, met today with representatives of the regional banking group AiK Grupa - the owner and vice-president of the Supervisory Board Aleksandar Kostić, executive director Razvan Munteanu and the Executive Director for risk management Aleksandra Babić. The CBCG’s Supervision Department, headed by director Milan Remiković, also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, they discussed the topics necessary for the stability and development of Montenegro’s banking sector, with a special focus on the future operations and strategic directions of action of AiKGroup on the Montenegrin market after completing the regulatory procedure under the law for receiving the CBCG’s approval to this financial group for acquiring qualified share in the share capital of Hipotekarna banka AD Podgorica.
Governor Radović pointed out that the CBCG issued the approval after conducting a comprehensive assessment, with full respect for legal criteria and best supervisory practices. She pointed out the importance of responsible corporate governance and the necessity of transparency in the process of ownership changes, particularly highlighting the supervisor’s expectations regarding risk management, digital transformation and the integration of ESG principles into the bank’s operations.
The Governor expressed an expectation that engaging the new majority ownership structure will strengthen competition, trust and the overall efficiency of Montenegro’s banking sector in Montenegro.
The representatives of AiK Group thanked the CBCG for their open, professional, and efficient cooperation. They emphasised their willingness to operate in Montenegro long-term following the highest regulatory, market, and ethical standards. They also expressed their commitment to a long-term partnership and investment strategy to strengthen competition and the quality of services for financial services users in the Montenegrin market. Hipotekarna banka intends to enhance further its role as a reliable partner to citizens and the economy and position itself more strongly as an essential player in modernisation and support for the sustainable economic development of the country.
