Bilateral Cooperation with the OeNB in Personal Data Protection

14/02/2024

Within the IPA regional project “Programme for Strengthening the Central Bank Capacities in the Western Balkans with a view to the Integration to the European System of Central Banks - Phase II”, the CBCG and the National Bank of Austria (OeNB) started bilateral activities in the personal data protection area.

Within this project activity, two bilateral visits will be carried out to strengthen the CBCG’s personal data protection capacity following the EU regulations, i.e. the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which application in Montenegro will start after the new personal data protection law enters into force.

During the first expert mission in Podgorica on 13-14 February, the OeNB’s Data Protection Officer, Mr Bernhard Horn, presented the experiences and challenges this institution faced during the GDPR implementation project and the framework for personal data management in the OeNB. Moreover, the members of the CBCG working group for harmonising operations with the GDPR regulation shared the previous activities and experiences on personal data protection in the CBCG.

Further project activities include the second bilateral visit of the CBCG Working Group members to the OeNB.

Cooperation with the OeNB as an ESCB member is of utmost importance for the CBCG to improve work and internal processes and further harmonise its regulatory and operational framework with EU central banking standards.
