03/10/2025
The Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), the Government of Montenegro, and the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro are organising a ceremonial event to mark a historic moment – the launch of the first SEPA transactions from Montenegro.
The event will take place on Tuesday, 7 October 2025, starting at 10:00 a.m., at the Music Centre of Montenegro.
Under the slogan European Finance for New Generations: SEPA as an Integration Instrument, the event will mark Montenegro’s entry into the European payment infrastructure, less than a year after becoming the first Western Balkan country to join the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).
The programme will include video messages from senior European and international officials: President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde, Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) and Chair of the SEPA Management Board Gert Jan Koopman, and World Bank Vice President for Europe Antonella Bassani.
Within the panel discussion titled SEPA and the Future of European Integration, the speakers will include the Montenegro’s Prime Minister, Milojko Spajić; the CBCG Governor, Irena Radović; the EU Ambassador to Montenegro, Johann Sattler; the Minister of Finance, Novica Vuković; the Director of the European Payments Council, Giorgio Andreoli; the Ambassador of Denmark, Pernille Dahler Kardel; and youth leader in entrepreneurship and innovation, Jelena Kavarić.
The panel moderator will be the CBCG Vice-Governor, Zorica Kalezić.
The central moment of the event will be the symbolic initiation of the first SEPA transaction from Montenegro. Following the ceremony, guests will have the opportunity to visit the Innovation Corner – a mini exhibition of fintech solutions, start-up ideas, and other projects developed by young people inspired by SEPA opportunities.
We kindly invite you to cover this important event and to send accreditation by email to komunikacije@cbcg.me no later than Monday, 6 October, by 2 p.m.
