02/09/2026
The Central Bank of Montenegro will mark its 25th anniversary with a high-level international conference to be held in Tivat on 4 September, bringing together prominent representatives of the European and international central banking community, leading financial institutions, as well as distinguished members of the academia and expert communities.
The conference, titled “Central Banking in a High-Risk Environment: Stability, Infrastructure and Trust”, will be attended by governors and senior representatives of central banks from European Union Member States, the region and beyond, alongside representatives of leading European and international financial institutions and renowned experts in economics and finance.
Participants will include, among others, the governors of the central banks of France, Belgium, Iceland, Croatia and Slovenia, as well as the governors of the central banks of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and North Macedonia. Senior representatives of the European Central Bank, the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB), the Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AMLA), the Deutsche Bundesbank, the Bank of England, the International Monetary Fund, and other relevant European and international institutions will also take part in the conference.
The conference will focus on the key challenges facing central banking today: safeguarding financial stability, strengthening the resilience of financial infrastructure, and preserving institutional trust amid heightened global risks, geopolitical uncertainty and rapid technological change. By bringing together participants of such high standing, the CBCG will mark its anniversary through a substantive dialogue on issues that will significantly shape the future of central banking and financial systems in Europe and beyond.
The opening ceremony will be open to the media from 09:00 to 09:30. Speakers will include Jakov Milatović, President of Montenegro, and Irena Radović, Governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro, while Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, will address participants via video message.
