Competition for Granting the 2024 Central Bank of Montenegro Green Award


Pursuant to Articles 45 paragraph 2 point 7 and 65 paragraph 2 of the Central Bank of Montenegro Law (OGM 40/10, 6/13, 70/17, 125/23) and Articles 5 paragraph 1 and Article 6 of the Rulebook on Granting the Central Bank of Montenegro Green Award (No. 0102-3655-1/2023 of 28 April 2023 and No. 0102-4267-1/2024 od 24 May 2024), the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG) announces


COMPETITION

for Granting the 2024 Central Bank of Montenegro Green Award


I With the view to encouraging scientific thought and an empirical approach in affirming the responsible attitude towards the climate change challenges, the CBCG grants the Green Award for the best paper on climate change’s effects on the financial system.


The Green Award shall be presented to celebrate the Ecological State of Montenegro Day, 20 September.


II The cash amount for the 2024 Central Bank of Montenegro Green Award shall be 3,000.00 euros.


III Citizens of Montenegro who acquired university degree of at least VI level (180 ECTS credits) at a university, faculty or college in Montenegro or abroad may compete at the Competition.


CBCG Employees, members of the Council of the Central Bank of Montenegro and persons engaged in deciding on the Green Award may not compete.


Green Award may only be granted once to the same person.


IV The papers shall be submitted to the CBCG in hard copy directly to the Archive Office or by regular mail to the following address: Central Bank of Montenegro, Directorate for Communication, Blvd. Svetog Petra Cetinjskog 6, Podgorica, or in the electronic form to the e-mail address zelena.nagrada@cbcg.me, specifying “For 2024 Green Award”, no later than 16 August 2024. Papers submitted after the deadline will not be taken into consideration.


The papers shall be submitted in hard copy and electronic formats in Montenegrin. In addition to the paper, the participants shall submit the application form available at the CBCG website (link), a certified copy of the diploma/certificate on the acquired academic degree, Decision on the recognition of diploma (if the diploma was acquired in a foreign country), curriculum vitae, and the copy of biometric identity card or citizenship certificate.


V The Commission appointed by the Decision of the CBCG Governor will select the best papers.


VI Submitted papers should meet the criteria of innovation, theoretical and empirical contribution to the affirmation of best practice for the actions of central banks and other financial system regulators and supervisors, international organisations and institutions, credit institutions and/or other financial system institutions, on the climate change challenges and their impact on financial system stability.


The papers should include the following sections: paper name, abstract, keywords, introduction, chapters, conclusion and references.


VII Submitted papers must not have been previously published, nor at the same time sent for consideration or accepted for publication by other institutions or journals.

Authors shall be responsible for obtaining permission from the copyright owner to reproduce data, tables, quotations, illustrations and the like previously published elsewhere through any means of communication. The authors shall be responsible for the authenticity of the information in the paper.

VIII The Commission may decide not to grant the Green award should the submitted papers not meet the quality criteria required in point VI above. The Commission may decide to split the Green Award equally to two candidates.

IX The decision on presenting the Green Award and the awarded paper will be published on the CBCG website.


X All participants will be notified in writing of the competition results within 25 days following the competition closing date.
